I remember being so excited when I completed my first 200hr Yoga teacher training. After spending a few months immersed in the study of Yoga, I knew it was only the beginning of what would be a lifelong journey of self inquiry, personal growth and expansion. On the first day of YTT, we went around the room and introduced ourselves and a little bit of what brought us to Yoga. I vividly remember explaining that I was not here to teach, I was here to deepen my personal practice. My teacher looked at me and said, “and you will be the one.” The thought of getting up in front of a group of people and guiding them through a Yoga class, consistently brought up an overwhelming sense of fear. Using my voice was something I have struggled with my entire life. The sense of complete panic inside was so strong, that I even turned down my first Yoga teacher job opportunity. I was frozen with fear. It made me feel awful, yet the feeling inside that I was meant to show up and share this beautiful, ancient practice with others, continued to grow. So, I continued to follow the path of self inquiry, which allowed me to discover and awaken to my higher self. Along the way, I gathered pivotal tools and practices that have now become integrated into my daily life, which helped me cultivate and embody the two missing ingredients that were holding me back: Self-Love and Faith. I am living proof it is possible to overcome fear, doubt, insecurity, and limiting beliefs that may be holding you back from being the fullest expression of who you are meant to be. I wrote “Keep Me Where The Light Is: A Path To Self Love And Faith”, to share my own definition of Self-Love, and how it allowed me to step onto the mat and embody the role of a yoga teacher - mind, body, and spirit. Whether you are already a Yoga teacher, currently enrolled in a YTT, are thinking about taking a YTT, and are feeling afraid, or unsure about whether you are ready to step into the role as a teacher, I invite you to watch my vlog, below, “Finding Your Voice Through Self Love & Faith”. I am so excited for you! You have answered a calling that will be the most fulfilling thing you will ever do. Helping others live their best life now through the practice of Yoga, is a blessing that will fill your heart and soul like nothing else. Keep going. This world needs your light.
